1. Use of library computers is governed by the Columbia College Chicago Computer and Network Usage Policy and other guidelines provided under the Columbia College Chicago Student Code of Conduct.
2. The Library makes public Internet workstations available to faculty, students, staff, and alumni association members to support the educational, research and service missions of Columbia College Chicago.
3. Library computers are provided for academic purposes. Library staff may interrupt users engaging in non-academic computer use when computers are needed for research purposes.
4. Users may not install or download any software or attempt to alter software configurations.
5. Users may not violate copyright laws or software licensing agreements in their use of the Library workstations.
6. Library computers print to public printing stations on various floors of the library. There is a fee of $.10 per page for black and white copies and $.50 per page for color copies. This fee is subject to change without notice. Oasis course schedules and Library Catalog records printouts are free. Campus Cards are required for all other print jobs. 7. A wireless network is available on all floors of the Library for Columbia College students, faculty and staff. Instructions for configuring laptops to use the wireless network are available at the 2nd floor Reference Desk.
8. Electronic resources available through the Columbia College Chicago Library are licensed by the Library for use by Columbia College Chicago faculty, staff, and students. Authorized users may access these resources for noncommercial, educational, and research purposes only. The terms and conditions of these agreements with the vendors and publishers of these electronic resources regulate their use. Large-scale systematic downloading of articles or other information, sharing of articles or other information with individuals at other institutions, and using such articles or information for commercial purposes is prohibited. Individual database providers can and do monitor online activity. Violation of a database provider’s terms and conditions can result in the cancellation of service for the entire college.
9. Selected Library workstations have word processing, scanning and other capabilities. These computers are provided primarily for the exclusive use of Columbia College Chicago Students and are intended to supplement the workstations provided by campus computer labs. Locations and hours of campus computer labs are available at the 2nd Floor Reference Desk.
10. Any patrons violating these policies will be asked to terminate their session immediately. If the violation continues, the patron may forfeit the right to use Library computers, and may have their Library privileges suspended and/or may be denied access to library electronic resources.
11. Parents or legal guardians of minors are responsible for monitoring the library activities of their children. Restriction of a child’s access to the Internet is the responsibility of the attending parent or legal guardian.
