Organizations worldwide worked to end apartheid, the system of government-sponsored racism in Southern and South Africa. Chicago was active in anti-apartheid efforts, passing sanctions against and divesting holdings from South Africa primarily through the efforts of local social justice, religious, and activist groups. |

His photographs appeared in magazines such as Look, Life, and Time and he worked for Black Star Agency and for corporations like Land’s End, Acme Steel, and Inland Steel. |

Gallery 312 was founded in 1994 by Lewis S. and Anne Neri Kostiner. The Kostiners opened the Gallery as a nonprofit art organization and was active for 11 years before its closing in 2005. During their years of operation, G312 committed its efforts to the development of local artists and functioned as both an exhibition space for emerging and renowned artists and the home base for the associated after-school children’s program, The PEACH Club. |
