About Library Instruction
Mission
The mission of the Library Instruction Program at Columbia College Chicago is to develop independent learners who can find, evaluate, and use information effectively. By teaching critical thinking skills and the complex process of searching for and applying information, we will support the development of not only information-savvy students and researchers, but discerning artists and citizens.
To achieve this mission, the Library Instruction Program offers:
- Instruction sessions
- Columbia College Librarians prepare active learning sessions tailored to a specific assignment or topic [based on the information literacy standards of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL)].
- Print and online resources, research strategies and critical thinking skills are highlighted.
