About the Collection
About the Collection
- Collection images provide full and part-time faculty with a readily available source of visual aids for the classroom.
- The VRC holds over 150,000 individual slides, approximately 225 slide sets, and 35,000+ digital images covering a wide variety of subjects related to the visual arts. Slides representing illustrations in the Stokstad, Gardner, and Janson survey textbooks can also be found in the VRC.
- Represented media are: architecture, sculpture, painting, drawing, book arts, printmaking, photography, ceramics, mosaics and stained glass, textiles, jewelry, arms and armor, metalwork, furniture, commercial art, theater arts, process art, performance and video art, customs and culture, and fashion.
- The majority of the collection is composed of images that have been requested by faculty members. In the interest of keeping the collection current with classroom needs and artistic trends, the VRC staff encourage faculty to request images for their classes.
