Digital Images & Access to MDID
Access to MDID
- Faculty members must register with the VRC to access MDID. To register, stop by the VRC with a faculty ID and fill out a form. Or, email the Visual Resources Coordinator crobertson@colum.edu from a Columbia College Chicago email address.
- MDID training sessions occur annually at the beginning of fall semester, however individual training sessions are available.
- Access the MDID directly through the URL http://images.colum.edu or via the Databases A-Z page.
- Type in your Username and Password.
- Select “Create New Slideshow” to create a new show from the “My Slideshows” button on the top left side of the page.
- Give your new show a title and select “Add Images” at the bottom.
- Search for your images using the provided fields making sure the “Columbia College Instructional Collection” box is checked.
- Check the “Selected” box below the image to choose the images you want. Continue searching or click the “Add Selected Images to Slideshow” tab at the top of the page.
- Follow the directions on the preceding page, adding and saving images to your slide presentation.
- Once this is complete you will be directed to the Light Table where you can organize the images in any order you choose.
- Select “Leave Light Table” on the left hand side of the page to return to the Slideshow Properties page. From here you can alter, view, and set permissions for the show you have just created.
- For students to access your unarchived shows they need to type in “student” for the username and “columbia” for the password.
